The Latin phrase, Ad Altare Dei, means “I will go up to the alter of God”. The artist personified God in the feminine form. The skeletal figure approaching the alter is burdened by COVID-19. The icy, hole-ridden ground represents the fragility of life as we struggled through the pandemic. The cauldron of fire within lotus is a reminder of life’s trials.
