Description
At the top, a bird-woman angles into the star-punched night. She is leaving, and the piece admits a hard possibility: she may not come back.
Below, an Egyptian bluebird stands watch on a nest made from the marble head of Michelangelo’s David. The face carries a faint tear track. Turned toward a bottomless canyon, David stares into the dark—less monument than mind. He is the thinker here: a man holding loss and memory at the edge of an absence that won’t answer back.
The land between is tiered with what first looks like hills, then resolves into Middle Eastern tombs—stone rooms for names, a geography of the kept and the gone. This middle ground is exactly that: the span between departure and remembrance.
The bird stands as witness—present, alert, quiet. Above, the leaving figure writes one story. Below, the marble head keeps another: grief as a practice of looking; memory as the weight you refuse to set down.
“Nesting Memories” stacks these truths in a narrow column—sky, tomb, brink. The thread that binds them is not decoration but intention: one life going forward, one life looking back, and the long, still moment where both are true.
